What Was I Thinking?

Wayne is wondering too. We always wait until the grass is beautiful, then dig it up!!
I've wanted a faucet at the fence for a long time and
for some dang reason we decided today was a good day. Just about the time
we got going good Wayne remembers that he has two loads of rock to haul
(which turned into five loads, right!) So I pretty much dug the grass up myself. Anyway, I have the faucet that I wanted...Tomorrow I vote we rest!

Busy Sky

I was talking to a fellow blogger about how
hard subjects are to come by.
Then the subjects started coming to me.
This plane was going to Savannah (?)
This guy was leaving Savannah

This guy was practicing.

These are reversed, you can tell by the sky that was rapidly getting dark.

This guy was also leaving Savannah

This is my crazy neighbor.

Yes..these were all in the sky over my house in the space of about thirty minutes! Amazing...better than the frog I had. Not the best pictures, but 5 planes crisscrossing the sky priceless.

There was this big splash....

No....It's A Tidal Wave
Who are these masked people?? Lets see....

The beautiful but illusive Christina
Our very on All Star..Shelby
High Quality-H-2-0 Eric
Every one's Pooh Bear - Catie
I have a cool drip on my chin Bret

Not the best pictures, no white balance tricks today..just very bright sun and looming shadows. But they were having so much fun, I had to try to capture them..not an easy task. They move way to fast.

From the Porch

I was looking (hard) today for a photo...no inspiration was forthcoming...then I went out on the porch at PF to water a plant, the wind Amy's been fussin' about was blowing today, only it was blowin' HOT air. I saw this new growth on the red maple tree right in front of the house we use as an office.
I'm not sure you can tell from the photo how hard the wind was blowin'. It really looks like a "fall" picture but as you know it did not even resemble fall weather today! I saw Amy tonight and got a 50 cent lesson on white balance...maybe I'll have a non-flash inside photo tomorrow..oh, I'll give you the 50 cent next time I see you Ame. Told you, you could make money at this. LOL

I was here!

That's right, I was home today. I needed a break...as you know.
I e-mailed my sweet boss that I was having a meltdown,
he called and said to take a day...so I did.
I actually got in to the pool for about 45 minutes!
I have a very clean house to boot!
(I take out my frustration by cleaning!)
Anyway, I am so blessed to have you all as friends. Thanks for letting me vent and for the encouragement!
An update:
Little Sumner Brooks came home today from MUSC,
things look really good. RCP sounded very relieved.
Got an email from Jeff he sounded good.
Wayne finished the job from H-E double hockey sticks.
Catie goes to MUSC tomorrow
Jamie has a meeting with the Colonel Friday,
(better pray for him)LOL
and for the best news of all.....you will have to wait on Shelby Lynn.

If you look in the background you will see "nosey rosey"...

My Nanny's Bible

My refuge and my strength. As you can see it has been used.
I always hesitate to pull it out because it is so fragile but on days like today...
I feel like I have been toting a led balloon all dang day. Like all of a sudden God's pulled out a pop quiz and I am ill prepared, no pen, no paper, no brain. The quiz has so many topics and themes I do not know where to start. So as I always do I pull out my Grandmother's Bible, I know the words are all the same but some how, maybe because she held it, it speaks a little gentler to me, and stuff is easier to find. I try very hard not to be a 911 Christian but today did feel like an emergency situation. I was talking with Shelia and she said "I thought God's not suppose to give us more than we can handle". It's true; He says in Matt. 11: 30 His yoke is easy and His burden is light, so that's when I had to look at Moses. During a battle as long as Moses' arm was raised Israel was winning the battle, when his arm fell they began to lose. When his arm got tired his brother Aaron and Hur (a co-worker) held his arm up for him. So I need some help holding up with a few prayer request:
Our Church Body
Our prospective pastor
Katie "Pooh" Saunders
Little Sumner Brooks Pingree
My mom who fell last week
My friend Sandy
Shane & Jamie & Kids
Jeff & Heather & Boys
Wayne as he works in this heat
I love you all and I am holding you all up too.

I have succumbed!

Well, I have succumbed to pulling out some old pictures.
When I got home this afternoon, well the truth...I went to sleep.
Then after church tonight we went out to get an ice cream and had some great fellowship,
and put into practice the challenge we were given today at church, to ask the folks at the counter if we could pray for them. They gave us a list and we prayed right there in the restaurant for them. The folks were very grateful. Wow it really works and it was good to be apart of it.
A spider!
An Iris
Good Night!

Mushrooms for Riley

Riley told me that I had BIG mushrooms at my house.
So I took a couple of pictures of some really big ones
I saw today in the front yard.
Hope you enjoy these Ri.
You can come pick them any ole' time ya want too, Riley.
I may even have a neat rock you can have some where! LOL...
This is a century plant. I planted it in front of the fence to help keep my horses from eating other things I plant.
I have some babies if anyone would like one.

Old Red

This is old red...we used to use it at PF to haul mulch but alas it has died. I drive by it ever day, I can't tell when the last time it was moved. I did a little research and I think it is about 40 years old. You can see in some places it was "old green" at one time. I'm sure it's demise was due to rust cancer..you can see it all over. I'm not real happy with my subject, Amy asked me if I had my post for today I told her I did but then I wasn't sure. It came from the Plantation that my bosses family owned.

Chevrolet
You can see the rust cancer here.
Any how that's it! I'll try to do better!

Worming In On My Tomatoes!

If you have tomato plants chances are you know these guys.
The mean green eating machine.
I found them "worming" in on my crop of tomatoes.
They can do a lot of damage in a short time.

The boys and Tom-boys will not mind pictures of the worm twins,

not sure how the girly girls will re-act.

No fear they are gone now. Squash!

Gray Day!

No yellow today. Only gray.
It made me gray too, my brain is not working,
and fingers can't hit a darn thing I want them to, my hair is flat from doing errands in the blasted rain, I spilt my lunch on my shirt (again).
(I know, Russell, we need it...but couldn't it be at night, when I'm asleep?)
I drove out to the landing at Broad River to get a shot of the rain coming on shore. It was a lot more intimidating than what I captured here.
Really, I'm OK, and I heard the sun will come out tomorrow..tomorrow, the sun will come out tomorrow.....should be a song...oh it is.... I knew I'd heard it some where!!

Blue!

Continuing the color scheme we have "my blue (berry) period". I'll call this "Blueberries in my backyard".Mostly because that is what they are. I love blueberries. I get that from my grandmother who loved them too. (Even my dishes have BB on them.)
I have to pick them everyday because the birds like them too. However, I have placed a rubber snake in each bush and it has helped a lot!! Sometimes it scares me and I know it's there! Anyway, as for my"Blue Period" it will last a few weeks and they will gone until next summer, until then Wayne enjoys them on his cereal, in BB pancakes, BB muffins and on and on...Hey Cindy maybe you would share MeMaws BB cake recipe??

Orange U Cute??

OK OK pretty dorky title but I had these two orange theme pictures I took this morning to post. These are some "triple daylillies" I have in the backyard that I really like. They bloom their hearts out most of the summer.
This is an orange on the orange tree I have planted in a pot by the pool, as you can see it has lots of potential to produce. Wayne is trying to get me to try it first and I want him to try it first, so can have my camera ready to captures his face if it is sour!

Come On In And Set A Spell

I was sitting in the porch this afternoon, after it cooled off a bit.
There was a nice breeze enough to keep the pesky mosquitoes away. Wayne had cut the grass Saturday, and with all the rain it was lush and green.
Along with everything else.

I was sitting in the swing when I snapped this shot. I don't get to sit out here much, even though it's one of my most favorite spots. It is peaceful when the bugs can be controlled, and it's cool.

I was talking to Jamie as well, Shane will have to stay in the the hospital, he has developed a blood clot and will have to undergo treatment for that. Pray that he will get the care he needs and for Jamie too, she is having to leave the kids with friends and try to keep a handle on what is going on w/Shane. Thanks!

I know the plants in the planters by the door look bad but there are baby birds in both of them, so have not watered them, and I am waiting for the babies to fly away before I try to revive or replace them.

Sky Over Whale Branch

We had to go into town tonight, on the way home while crossing the Whale Branch the sky was absolutely breath taking. My skills with the camera does not do it justice. All I can say is: Way to go God!
If you click on the picture you can see the "Carolina Moon".

Nothing Says Southern Like Magnolias

I just knew someone would beat me to this one. Magnolias are blooming everywhere. The best part when I was taking these pictures is who very sweet the smell was. I got the pictures on the only day this week the sun was shining.

As beautiful as they are they make a mess, we call the seed pods, "magnolia grenades". These are blooming in the courtyard at the old courthouse on Bay Street. I'm not so sure they will be pretty much longer, with the rain that's been beating on them today.
But these are preserved, except for the smell.

*if you click on the pictures, my very favorite is the last one. Even I think it's pretty good.

Who are these people?

This is such an old photo..I was five, and if you notice my arm in a cast. I was carrying that goofy looking blond (LOL) in the outfit like mine piggy back and we fell, and she fell on my arm. Anyway that's not what this blog is about. I have been telling Jamie I thought that McKinley looked like my sister. So I wanted Jamie to see this picture. I have some other photos but was to tired to look for them, with VBS, and work. So what do you think Jame? Does she look like Jo to you?
Oh, Yeah gotta love mine and Mom's bangs!
News flash...Jamie just called and they admitted Shane to the hospital for about three days to get some serious pain management, his leg nerve pain and headaches. She also said she is seeing God's presence in their lives in some ways I cannot really say right now. She assures me they are fine.

The Pott Brothers

I am at least the the fifth generation, if not more, in our family to have this cabinet in my home. When I was growing up I thought it belonged my Nanny Sadie (my dad's mom) but after some research I discovered it belonged to "Aunt Julie". Whom of course I never knew and at this point not to many people remember much about her. That's sad. Anyway, It is hand made of Oak, kinda in the mission style. It always had glass in it when I was a kid. And most of the time it was cracked or broken. Somehow, by the time I got it there was no glass. I had a piece of Plexiglas in it for a long time, but now I just have wire, the wood changes with the weather and it would actually bend the Plexiglas. (Explains the broken glass, huh?) Anyway, I love the cabinet. I think it must have been a "pie safe" but I'm not sure. At my Nanny's and Aunt Margie's (my dad's sister) it had books and "stuff" in it. I loved to go through all of the "treasures". My most favorite memory was "Meeting Tom and Paul, the Pott Brothers" As you can see the box is old the date just says 1940. I would love to open the box and greet the Pott brothers with a little girl giggle...every time, I still do even now.
So, let me introduce you to

"T" Pott and "P" Pott, The Pott Brothers...

Known to every household"
I have no idea how this has survived for the last 60 years, but when the kids come to visit we almost always have to go through the "stuff" in the "Pie Safe". We have arrowheads, an old pencil box, a hand carved slingshot, old toys, very old cards with scripture on them that Wayne's Uncle Claude "won" for knowing his Bible verses, old oil cans, a gourd that my great- grandmother used to darn socks (What's that?hehe). Just junk I guess, but by far, just like with me the most popular thing is "Meeting the Pott Brothers!" I also, found in the cabinet a couple of books ''Jane Eyre", "A Gentleman's Agreement", "A Tale of two Cities", " A Christmas Story" all belonging to my dad, when he was in the Navy in 1945. How cool is that? He had written his name in all of them with the date! Like I said I love old things and best of all the old and new memories.

Told Ya! Sloppy Joe's It Is

Because I had no "easy meal" suggestions, Sloppy Joe ruled!
It was funny because I made Wayne's plate, used the good china ya might notice, I was getting read for VBS when he came in so I yelled
"Don't eat that Sloppy Joe".
I got out my camera and was taking pictures. He said
"Dang, I thought something was wrong with it".
I said "Nothing is wrong it's the star of the blog tonight."

A few more words were exchanged with this tired and hungry man.

There was no holding him back then!

Short and Sweet!

Well, we have Vacation Bible School this week at church.
Everyone works so very hard to make sure everyone
has a great experience while learning about Jesus.

So, long story short, (pardon all the puns, ha)we all will be on the run this week.
I ran in and fixed Wayne's supper, and made him this Strawberry Short Cake
as a special ending to an otherwise thrown together, leftover supper.
I hope I have a vision tonight for something for tomorrow's supper.
Any suggestions are welcome,
or it looks like Sloppy Joe's!

In our Thoughts and Prayers

In his dress uniform.
Handsome!
LT left today. We got to speak with him briefly this afternoon. We were able to tell him that we love him, are praying for him, to be safe and that we have placed him in God's hands. This was a very hard day. Although I know this is what LT has always wanted to do. Be in the military, I mean. I'm not sure why he's wanted to serve his country but he has, ever since he was a little boy. When he told me he was signing with the National Guard ( before he got to old) the only advice I had for him was, "No regrets, don't wait and wonder, what if". He's always managed to achieve whatever he set his mind on doing. Needless to say we are very proud.

Like we did for Shane, Wayne and I are praying Psalm 91 for LT, and want to ask all of you to join with us, as we pray not only for LT's safe return but all of our young service men and women. Also Heather and the Boys are feeling a great void, so please include them in your prayer as well. Thank you!

Black Mamba

I worked outside in the yard today and I encountered the dreaded Black mamba in her bed.
Ok it's the garden hose but, it is the most dreaded part of the day for me. A real killer.Even with the irrigation system, which is wonderful, I still have to drag out the Black mamba to water my pots! Oh well, it is worth it when the flowers look pretty, right?
