Under the Barn

Over the years it amazes me at how much stuff you can accumulate.

It does not matter where around here..

it can be in a cabinet, a drawer, on the counter top, my office, a closet.

You name it, it's full. Even the barn can not escape. I'm sure it all has a purpose.

Because, the very moment you throw something away you need it!! Planter plates, PTO Shaft for the tractor, extension cords, and a clevis.
Gear and levers
String and rubber hoses, pipes, boards, even a knife to cut the string off the hay, bolts, bags and buckets......

if you are looking for something

feel free to look under the barn chances are it's there!

The Big Hook

Many of you know Mrs. Player.

She is always teasing Wayne and telling him,

as she is trying to get up,

that he needs to go and get the "Big Hook" to help her.

Little does she know that he has one.

I think this one could do the job, that is if she really needs it.

I love it because it is rusty, It's been hanging under the barn for years,

it's to heavy to steel...

Jamie and the kids sent this little gopher to Poppie for Christmas last year. They said it looked like Poppie and we all had a good laugh. Poppie has taken it on jobs with him. He tells people who have complaints to talk to the foreman...in the blue vest.

Oh, and the Big Guy gets my vote, he is such a great guy!!!

And can anyone tell me why sometimes this dang blog skips two spaces???

Thready Details....

This is the second runner up to details...

I haven't had time to take a new pic...

(but I have a goodie for tomorrow, stay tuned)My grandmother was an incredible seamstress. She made everything; purses and hats to match her dresses and even made underwear for my grandfather! I would see a picture of a dress and she could make it just by looking at the picture. (and sometimes my dresses were made out of feed sacks.) She also crocheted like you would not believe. This picture is a sample of her work that I am privileged to own. My mother can sew very well too..I, however, can do neither...

The Plant, the bloom and soon the Fruit

This is a banana plant I planted about 5 years ago.The bush as multiplied into a huge plant.

Quilts..

I love quilts..these are a few that I have. I am a sucker for the blue and red "tick in" stripe and

I love gingham check like in this one.I also like squares, crazy huh?

I've had this quilt for years, I wash it, dry it, put it back on the bed

and it looks great, it has the "old timey" cotton in it, so it is heavy.

When I was a kid my Nanny did not have heat up stairs..so she had lots of quilts. When I would stay with her, I'd climb up on the feather bed, and she'd say "are you ready?", and Boy you better be because when she flopped those quilts back on you and you sunk in to that feather bed..that'd be just how you slept, cause the quilts were to heavy to move!! Oh to be a kid again.

This is a "double wedding ring" quilt pattern. I've have this quilt for, gosh, Twenty-five years. A very dear friend (Cindy McJunkin) had it made for me.

We have been working on plans for a small cabin (it's up 1350 sq. feet now) to put on our property in Georgia.

There are so many things to consider.

This table is full of some of the paper work we have collected to date.

This plan, that plan..face it this way,face it that way.
Get power ran 2000 feet to where we want to put the house, drill a well, septic tank, can we do this? can we do that?
This is one of the "how we want it to look" pictures we've found. I am so glad Mr. Cook, our architect, is a kind and gentle soul.

Burke County has so far been a lot easier to deal with than Beaufort (sorry Judy).

We haven't even started on the interior.

One thing about this house is I want so much to use it for weekend retreats for small group studies..so y'all be praying with me that God will be glorified and honored through it's use.
