Last round...Headin' Home

I was passing the 6L's tomato fields in Lobeco today. I saw the guys getting the fields ready to plant tomatoes. Tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and the like used to be a big deal here. (Amy's family was a big part of that) The farmers call it Truck Farming, because they grew, harvested, packed, and shipped, by truck, right out of our community. In it's hay day everyone worked at the "packing shed". You didn't get paid much, but you made good money because of the huge amount of hours you put in. My mom in her teens, me in my teens, and even Jamie & Amy have worked in the "packing shed". (my dad drove the long haul truck when I was little) I even road the tractor and planted tomatoes! Not a glamorous job but great fun. You can not beat a ripe low country tomato right off the vine. These guys were heading home when I saw them, it was 80degrees and the sand gnats were out in full force today, I'm sure they were wondering who the crazy lady with the camera was. Hope they don't by a paper looking for the pictures. Hey, Charlie will this do for equipment?

The Mouse, The Frog & The Billygoat

I know, I know.... you all thought I was nuts, now this will confirm it. I was enjoying the shutter speed on my camera while taking pictures of my "water feature" (yes, the same water feature that got me banded from HGTV). When I came in and put them on full screen....these little creatures appeared..to me anyway...At the top is a tiny mouse just rising up from the dark, and just for Jake a frog appeared (left), the my favorite, (right)....a billy goat playing a trumpet. Come on ya gotta see 'em. What fun...

Spring has arrived in the Low Country

Flowers are blooming everywhere in the Low Country. These are a few from our yard. I have to marvel at God's handy work. (Bottom to top)Yellow Jasmine is our state flower, the daffodils are everywhere, and the Bradford Pear trees are just starting to pop. Just had to throw these in....I know Charlie, less flowers more big equipment, I promise it's coming soon.

Oh, I'm so lonely.....

I love when the kids are home..this 'ole swing gets a good workout. Otherwise, it just hangs in until they return. It's been waiting awhile because, the grass has covered the ground again. Hurry home ya'll.

It's what he does....

This is Poppie (Pop to Luke)

See Poppie work

A million trips a day back and forth , and billions of grains of sand moved
to the perfect place, so the water will flow and the lot will be level,
and the people will be happy and write the check .

He's very good at what he does. He has taken "nothing" and made
a very nice life for his family. He loves his Lord, his wife and children,
in that order. And I would not have it any other way.

Little boys with little toys, grow up to be big boys with big toys

"An honest day, for an honest dollar"

Big shoes to fill boys and girls.

He thinks about all of you more than you will ever know.
Jeff and Shane he is very, very proud of you both.

Charlie, Jacob & Luke you are very special to Poppie,
(nobody I mean nobody has gotten to do the stuff you have around here)
you make him laugh and cry. Which is a good combination.

Sissy, Heather and girls, although you scare him from time to time
with "girl stuff" you are his heart. That is why it is so big.

He loves you and so do I.

Spooky....Yet.....Beautiful

I was trying to catch up with a red bird today.....I kept getting moss but no bird (yet)....so these are really an accident, except the one at the top, it is on the bank at Picket Fences (where I work). I thought the sun was really nice on the trees. I did not attempt to enhance these. I love the moss it is so.....well southern...It can be so beautiful, but it can also be scary. Try walking outside at night when the wind is blowing, oooooooo...It's called Spanish moss, I believe because the Spaniard's settled here and they brought it with them...It only grows in our famous humidity. It can also have red bugs in it. (I think Yankees call them chiggers?) Anyway, a bug by any other name will itch the same.

Leaky Hose

When I went out to feed and water Spunk & Biscuit (our horses) I turned on the water and discovered that the hose had sprung a leak. I'm not sure that this will have the look I am hoping for but here goes. I thought the fence, barn, and sun made a good backdrop, not sure how to capture the sparkle. I'm no ASW. But I am finding this very much fun.
