Pitiful...but Pretty

This is what you get when you wait to very last minute to take a picture,
you are just getting out of your car at home, an insurance man is in your yard and
the pool pump decides to act up.
No theme, no reason, no excitement,
just the reflection of the setting sun on some clouds.
It is pretty though

Rain Shower

I snapped this picture just as the rain was coming across the front yard.

Lemon Tree

I have a lemon tree planted in a pot out by the pool.
The tree has about a dozen or more lemons on it.Hopefully, one day, we can make lemonade.
I think I will wait on them to turn yellow .

Deep in the heart of Dixie

We went to Georgia today to explore our soon to be get-away place (Lord willing). There are lots of beautiful country churches along the highways (if I had to guess, on the two hour ride I'd say about 20 or more). Most from the Civil War ear. I finally got to stop at this one near Wade Plantation. This church is a Methodist Church with a cemetery. Rev. Peyton Wade established the church in 1823 and Stephen Wade donated the land for the church 1827. There were lots of Civil War Veterans buried there. This tomb stone was for a Mr. Williams Mears who sered in the 47th Ga. infantry Co. D. He was born in 1840 and died in 1917... Families have placed Confederate Flags at the tombs of their Soldiers.
Wade Plantation is Screven County Ga.
It's 22,000 acres and has a large 1400 acre pecan orchard today.
This is the entrance into the cemetery, these trees are huge,
beautiful dogwoods. The Wade family has a rich history here. I hope to stop again on a better day, it was raining today, so I can spend more time reading the markers and such.
I'm not in to what I'll call "redneck" confederates
(the ones who hate) but I sure am interested in the history...after all it did happen..like it or not..it happened here..in our south; the out come was people were freed from slavery. I think that was a good thing.

An egg?

No this is not Wayne's Breakfast
gone bad...
It's an altered picture of the full moon from last night.
I was just playing with it cause the picture was awful
and one of the effects I tried yielded this.
I thought it was pretty neat. We heard from LT he has arrived at "home" and is doing good, safe and sound.

Monkey Face

This is a little plant that Shane's grandmother brought me
when we first met his family. All I know is she called it
Monkey Face.
I found it in the Parks Seed Catalog but I can't remember the "real" name of it.
I'm not sure if it can be classified as a bulb but it has this tiny bulb like root. It may be considered a ground cover because it does spread. It's easy to transplant. I almost lost all of it due to some weeding with roundup, oops. It has made great recovery and I have move several clumps to different spots. It's a real pretty little flower..grows very low to the ground and the flower looks to big for the plant, the leaves are fuzzy and very green almost purple. It will bloom all summer, die back and return in late spring.
LOL, Shelia posted a "monkey", too!!!
Oh, Heather heard from Jeff, he is in Gardez...where ever that is. He will not be able to keep in touch much because of his location. But Heather said she would keep us informed.

Huspah Creek

After I've had a long day working, answering questions from every conceivable person under the sun. Number 1 being my husband (can you go by... could you pickup...can you fax... can you look up a number for me...What's my Tax ID #..., by-the-way it's the same number we've had for 21 years now!!! I'm sure you know what I mean) to even answering questions from the Port Royal Police Department today, no I'm not in trouble yet! I answered about 25 phone calls before lunch, dealing with accountants (oh then he came to my office as if calling wasn't enough!!), attorneys, paralegals, and of course homeowners who ALL want something..and of course for nothing! Dealing with the PO to have mail sent back..the same mail I've been "returning to sender" for over two months...get a clue people he is no longer with our Co. And my all time favorite phone call..you know a phone call from about 6 people in "the loop" who don't talk to each other who send you into a tailspin, to find out they all knew all they needed to know before they called you in the first place. Some days I feel like all calls have to go though me...you know the mother on all switchboards!!!
And to top it off I had to find "the most beautiful, beautiful, most beautiful dress in Beaufort" because Saturday is Emily's 6th birthday and that was her request..talk about pressure..I had find it and get it in the mail TODAY because it takes 4 days to get to her.
As I was saying, after all this and I get threw Garden's Corner with my life in tact, I pass this beautiful Creek. I'm almost home and I am so thankful!
Thanks I needed that!

I swear..

I swear I did not stage this!
If you saw yesterday's post this will crack you up.
I went out early this morning to water my plants by the pool,
and I could not believe it. It was a good laugh for me.
Is Mr. Smiley is trying to tell me something?
I think he is sad to be back in the pool.
If he keeps it up this maybe his last year !
Y'all have a groovy day..right Tara?
Hey Ame, What's the new challenge for Friday...ya know I have to work at this so I need all the time I can get.

Wipe that Grin off your face.

This is Mr. Smiley..It's a beach ball that has to have 100 lives. Someone left it here about 3 years ago (I think the Wise kids) anyway you wouldn't think that a beach ball could last three years with just mild use. The kids that come to play have kicked it, thrown it and batted it back and forth for the at least three years. Most of the time he floats around and around in the pool, but if there is the slightest bit of wind he rolls out of the pool into the yard, down the hill to the RR track or as he did today out into the horse pasture. I got home from work today and there he sits out in the pasture smiling at me...I have to climb under the fence and get him and put him back in the pool. Today he looked especially pleased with himself..

The View from a Floaty

I was trying to get a different view from around the pool.
So I took a chance, yes I took my camera out into the
pool and on the floaty with me.
When you are in the pool you are really at ground level,
it all looks different.

Even the umbrella looks different.

And yes I was scared, but the camera made it out alive.

Cottontail

When the boys were here we watched the clouds for shapes.
It's fun to do while floating around in the pool on a floatie.
We caught this cottontail (we decided he was a cottontail because
he looked like..well, cotton) nibbling on the tree tops.
Can you see him? We got a good laugh and watched him
as he disappeared into the sky.

Keepin' it Cool by the Pool

Bring on the heat I'm Ready.

Ice cold lemonade, no better way to keep it cool and beat the heat! AHH!

Helping

I had some really good help for a few days.
Luke helping to squeeze lemons for lemonade.
Charlie puttin' the squeeze on some lemons.
While they were here Charlie and Luke helped me pick
all the veggies from the garden.
With the awful heat we're experiencing,
this may be the last of the summer harvest.
Luke loves cucumbers and he kept calling the eggplant a grape.

The Many Faces of Luke

Luke is my little poser. I just love these pictures of him.

He was rollin' around in the front yard.

In deep deep contemplation.
He's our singer too, always humming something.
"Our God is an Awesome God" these last few days.
Off in space.
Fell out.
I just had to throw this one in..the Poser...he was "surfin'"
sorry so many pictures, and some are not in perfect focus, but he was sooo cute!

It Had To Happen

Well it was just inevitable.
He had absolutely swam him self out!He assured me he was not tired.
But, bless his heart after 4 days of nonstop
swimming, cannonballs, diving for the dive stick
and trying to drown Nana, he surrendered.

Pruney feet and
Pruney hands he was up and at em' ready to go again in no time at all.

Crazy Boys

As most of you know I have the boys for a few days.
We had to have some boiled peanuts...
one of Charlies favorites, as well as the rest of us.

You can tell he really likes the peanuts, he actually got out of the pool to eat some.

Luke is the "ham", Charlie usually just endures for me.

You gotta love this sweet sweet face.

The End.

Well, not really "The End". I will more than likely have more "boy" pictures.

Waterlogged

I'm enjoying having the boys for a few days. This is the view of Charlie I've had the most of this weekend.
Luke is not as daring but he loves the water too.
This is another view of Charlie.
Luke churning up some fun.
We've are having fun, but I know they are waterlogged...
ah, but they will sleep soon, very soon...
(I love the sparkles in the water, the first one of Luke is my favorite.)

New Fountains!

Heather asked me to help out with the boys this weekend. We met in Mt. Pleasant for "the exchange". We had a good night then.....
about 9:00am they went straight to the pool and would have still been there except for the rain storm. (thank you God).
They became instant fountains.
This is spewing Charlie
This is fish lips Luke.
We had a blast.
side note: we got the webcam going and were able to see and talk to Jeff today, he leaves tomorrow for a "new assignment" so we may not hear from him for a few days. He says we will try to post but is having trouble with pictures due to the poor connections...he says "hell-o to all and thank you for the prayers...and to keep em coming".

Sweet Sweet Summer Smell....Fresh Mown Hay

From the minute the 4020 fires up...
the smell of diesel begins to filter through the air
The work begins
Mowing is the first step and that is when it happens
the sweet, sweet smell of summer hay fills the air.

The baler starts the rhythm of click-clack, click-clack over and over again, until that rhythm is interrupted by the snap of the needles tying two knots in the twine around each bale and then steel blades slide together to cut the hay and string
Out pops a bale of hay.... and the click-clack starts again
The bales get stacked under the barn.
When you cut the strings, even months from now,
you get a whiff of the sweet sweet smell of summer.

Here's my map

Not nearly as impressive as Jan's!

Til the strom passes by..

These are my storm pictures...it was doosey wasn't it.
It came in very fast and made a mess everywhere.

We didn't have power when I got home.
It is amazing how black and how blue the sky was, at the same time.
I should have saved this for the smell of summer...a spring shower...
but it was more like a spring tornado!
Side note: I got to talk to Jeff today...on the computer..it was funny..he called Jamie in Ak she called me in Beaufort and then called Heather in MB and we all talked about 15 minutes! He is doing good and said to say thanks for all the BD wishes...He has not been able to communicate for a few days due to what he called a "black-out".
