Surprise Jamie....look who stopped by

At my request..Ms. Eloise !!! I called her and asked her to stop by so I could take a picture to send to you. And she did..she was on her way to church. She said to tell you she loves you and misses you. And no matter what she will make it a point to see you and the kids next time you are here. Dad drove up when we were taking the picture, he asked her if she was back! she said her old legs would not hold up...so he asked her to just come supervise "them" on how it is done. I thought this would be a good treat for you. Love to all..xoxo

She is posing pretty....

She looks great, she said she is doing really good, enjoying not working

Wild Beauties

Coming home from work today, about 7pm, I noticed these wild beauties along the highway. The Snow Bells (top two) were at the base of a pine tree. I love them, they are so dainty and always "ring" in spring with a sweet silence. My pictures do not do them justice. The Wisteria (bottom photo) caused me have to turn around and go back to get this pic. I just caught it out the corner of my eye. I don't really care for wisteria, it has huge vines that hang in the trees, seemly strangling them. The smell is very strong and unpleasant to me. But the picture neither strangles nor smells, so I like it.

Same Direction

I have been looking at church steeples for a while wanting to post them. I've looked at a lot and will probably have more to post later. Anyway, I thought I would start with the two most "famous" ones in Beaufort. Both of these churches were used as hospitals during the civil war, so they have a great history. One less known legend has it that a prominent man in Beaufort, who will remain anonymous, attended to THE Baptist Church of Beaufort (top photo). His wife attended the Episcopal Church (bottom photo). He offered to donate the money to place a steeple on the Baptist Church because it did not a steeple at the time, he had one stipulation...it had to taller then the one on the Episcopal Church....not sure why....but if you notice the BCB steeple does not have a cross on top...it has a weather vain instead. It amazes me what crazy things become important to some folks...but one, observation I've made while studying the "great" and the "small" steeples, they all have one thing in common they all point in the same direction..... up. If only we could all stay that focused how much better off we'd be. So I hope my Sunday surprise was worth the wait.

Berry Flowery

OK! I'm tired...These were pre-the third hint from ASW. Some how they looked better before they got to this page. I shot the berries at the boat landing on Ladys Island, the Camellia was shot outside Kelly's Kut n' Kurl in Port Royal and Gerber was here at the house today. The pictures seem grainy to me. I had a Loooooooooonnnnnnngggggggg day. I have a surprise for tomorrow, seeing as how it's Sunday. xoxo

Acrobatic Thief!!!

Waiting in line...See I have red birds.... but .....

These thieving little rascals eat all my bird feed!
I think he is even watching me take his picture!

See the pole leaning, he's not deterred. Just stretches a little more.

Now, he thinks he's cute... enjoying the spoils!

Oh well, not great pictures...
although I do like the one of the cardinal, kinda framed in the holly tree,
it was really dark when I took the picture, I doctored it up a bit.
Where are my boys with their BB guns!!

I found it! What? I found history!

The trough...it was given in 1914 by the Civic League, for public use.
The Triangle Park from the corner of Bladen Street and North Street.

This is a Bird bath that is now in the triangle park where the trough used to sit,
picture taken from Bay Street.

I love Beaufort! You should have seen it today. It was wonderful. As I was riding around town doing endless errands the other day I spotted the "Triangle Park". It's a little park that is encompassed on three sides by Bat Street, North Street, and Bladen Street. Hence the triangle. I was disappointed and did not post the pictures because when I was a kid there was an old trough in the park and it was gone! Years ago, it was a watering place for horses who had come to town. (you know before cars). I always loved it. When I was a kid there was a store called Koth's right behind the park and we'd walk up there for a coke after school. (don't tell my mom) I always checked out the trough. Anyway, my mom was over on Tuesday and I asked her what happened to the trough...and she knew...it had been moved to the water front park and is now used to water the Carriage Ride horses downtown. I found it! and here it is for you to see.

Spunk and Biscuit...as requested by Luke

This is Spunk, he's a Tennessee Walker . We've had him for about 10-11 years I guess. His registered name is "Master of the Ring", that was a little to "high falutin" for us. So we call Spunk, mostly because he was a stallion. But alas, now he is a gelding. But he prances around, swingin' his head like he is still "the man." Has a lot of Spunk!

This is Biscuit w/ Spunk, we've had her about 5 / 6 years. She is a quarter horse. I don't know if you know much about horses, but mares can be .... well witchie! She's sweet most of the time but it has to be her idea. After I took this picture she said that's enough...and went to bed.

We love them, Wayne says "they like to eat and I like to feed them" so it works out nice for both parties. We don't ride them much but when the kids come we can still throw them up on them and they will oblige. Both were given to us. They both were going to be put down. (A Friend of mine brought me Spunk and about 5 years later she called and said she had Biscuit.) I could not bear the thought of them being put down. Hope this works for Luke...who loves to feed them carrots & apples and Spunk and Biscuit like to eat them, see it works out good. Also, there is a very sweet girl who visits Spunk and he "kisses" her every time she's here, really he slobbers all over her...Right CJ?
